Founded by Joshua Blum, Washington Square Films is a production and management company with offices in New York and Los Angeles. The company’s films have been nominated for four Academy Awards, two Emmy Awards (winning one), Seven Independent Spirit Awards (winning one), received two Peabody Awards, and been nominated for, and won dozens of other awards and honors. WSF’s films have premiered at every major film festival including Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, New York and nine at Sundance.
Recent projects include 2017 Sundance Film Festival Competition Films – Alex Ross Perry’s GOLDEN EXITS and Matt Ruskin’s CROWN HEIGHTS. 2016’s MY ENTIRE HIGH SCHOOL SINKING INTO THE SEA, premiered at TIFF and screened at NYFF, starring Jason Schwartzman, Lena Dunham, Maya Rudolf, Susan Sarandon and Reggie Watts. Alex Ross Perry’s QUEEN OF EARTH, starring Elisabeth Moss and Katherine Waterston, which premiered at the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival and was released by IFC Films. A MOST VIOLENT YEAR starring Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain – nominated for three Indie Spirit awards and named Best Picture of 2014 by National Board of Review. LISTEN UP PHILIP with Jason Schwartzman and Elisabeth Moss premiered at Sundance and was named to over thirty 10-best lists. ALL IS LOST, starring Robert Redford premiered at The Cannes Film Festival and received an Oscar Nomination and four Indie Spirit Nominations. FRANCINE, starring Academy Award winner Melissa Leo was first screened at SXSW, and was nominated for a Gotham Award. MARGIN CALL, with Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto, Stanley Tucci premiered at Sundance, received an Oscar nomination, and won the 2012 Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
